Flutter is taking over the Italian company Sisal in a billion-dollar deal. The parent company of PokerStars and betfair, among others, has paid a total of $2.2 billion for this deal. It is the second major acquisition for Flutter in a short time, after it also bought tombola in November. Sisal is a leading betting, gaming and lottery operator headquartered in Milan.
On Thursday morning, the British company issued a statement. It states that it will become the new owner of the Italian company Sisal. According to the statement, both parties expect to finalise the deal in the second quarter of 2022.
Sisal is a major player in the regulated Italian market for (online) gambling. It has a sportsbook, bingo, poker, and Live Casino. For Flutter Entertainment, which also operates brands such as PokerStars, betfair and Paddy Power, it is the second acquisition in a short time. In the middle of November it was revealed that they also bought tombola.
