The Londoner in Macau, the redesign of what was previously known as Sands Cotai Central, is already open for guests. The London-based hotel was scheduled to open its doors in February. The hotel features Big Ben, a Crystal Palace, and David Beckham serves as its figurehead.
The multi-billion dollar project was to remake the resort in the image of the English capital London. The entire facade was addressed, the suites were redecorated, and a Big Ben was placed at the door.
The Londoner Macau project
The project is scheduled for completion in 2021. The original schedule was to welcome the first guests in February, but now it appears they have already opened the doors to the first players a week earlier.
Former footballer David Beckham acted as an advisor to the project and lent his face to the hotel. The Beckham, who has always been popular in Asia, has designed several suites for which visitors have to pay a lot of money if they want to stay overnight.
The Londoner is not the only resort in Macau to have the likeness of another city. Previously, Sands China, a subsidiary of Sands Las Vegas, opened The Venetian Macau after the Italian Venice. In 2016, the company opened The Parisian Macao, a hotel modelled after Paris with its own Eiffel Tower. In addition, Sands China also operates Sans Macao and The Plaza Macao in Macau.
