Location in the heart of London
The amazing location is one of the greatest things of Empire Casino. This place is located in the entertainment and centre area of London. And entertainment is everywhere in Empire Casino: from special dinner parties to events like New Year, Valentine’s Day and the Super Bowl.
Empire Casino is located in Leicester Square, London’s famous West End entertainment district. A stone’s throw from the Hippodrome Casino and Horizons Casino. About 45 minutes’ drive away, there is another large casino in London, the Aspers Casino, where you can also play poker. If you prefer to be in the city center then Leicester Square is the place to be as the Empire Casino offers great nightly entertainment. Empire Casino is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The casino is owned by Metropolitan Gaming, which acquired Empire Casino and ten other casinos from Caesars Entertainment in 2021.
Like other London casinos we visited during our city tour, you can walk right into the Empire Casino. So you don’t need to register first to create cards or view your details. We immediately found this to be a great advantage as we just didn’t want to waste time. So we’re big supporters of the Vegas way, where you can be in and out of the casino. Yes, you must be over 18, but that’s not the case in Las Vegas. So, if they think you are under 18, they can ask you for a passport or ID at Empire Casino. They don’t have a dress code but don’t dress too much, smart casual is always good.
Play Poker at Empire Casino
When you enter, you can reach the basement via stairs. There are many slot machines and poker rooms here. The poker room at Hippodrome Casino is run by PokerStars, while the poker room at Empire Casino is managed in-house. We were only in for a short time, but the setup and staff looked professional. There are at least ten tables, and if we are to believe the Empire website, both cash games and tournament poker are on offer. Tournaments will be held on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, with buy-ins ranging from £50 to £100. This of course changes throughout the year, which is why we recommend that if you want to play at Empire Casino, check out their website for yourself. Currently offering regular hold’em tournaments as well as bounty tournaments.
Atmosphere
When you first walk into the Empire Casino you immediately notice the great atmosphere. The entrance is beautiful, especially during the evening. It breathes history, although some parts of the decor are very 1980s. It looks cosy, but also a bit outdated. You don’t have to register yourself at the counter. However, minors are not welcome in this casino. No one is checked, but we guess that camera systems check the visitors of Empire Casino.
Games of Empire Casino
Every visitor of the Empire Casino is welcomed by the professional staff. They have to work hard to make sure that people visit their casino instead of their neighbor, the Hippodrome Casino! The wide variety of games is definitely a reason to visit Empire Casino. It’s a large place that offers popular games like Poker, Roulette, Blackjack and Punto Banco. You can also enjoy Pai Gow or several versions of Poker, such as 3 Card Poker.
Modern features
The Empire Theatre might be more than 130 years old, but this doesn’t mean that modern technology isn’t used in the casino. What’s more, Empire Casino uses modern features to give players the very best gambling experience. The bets and payouts are completely automatic, for example. We mentioned the benefits for loyal members of this casino before. Empire Casino has a special loyalty program called the ‘Player Savings System’. Interesting to know is that the loyalty program is part of the ‘Caesar’s Total Reward group’. This gives you the chance to earn points in Las Vegas as well.
Is this casino in London worth visiting?
The Empire Casino in London has a great atmosphere, although a make-over of the decor might be a good idea. The modern casino games, slots tournaments and several bars are a plus though. The staff is friendly as well, so if you have any questions don’t hesitate to ask them. Although this casino has many modern features, such as automatic Roulette, croupiers are still working. After all, it’s clear that this casino wants you to have a great gambling experience in London.
